 I can't keep up with all these freebies! I thought I'd start posting them in my blog.

Story note: I like drawing buildings and doing some urban sketching. I joined the Hong Kong Urban Sketchers a few times but I felt intimidated because I discovered that most of them were architects and interior designers! That meant their paintings were looked like show pieces for clients, since they are required to build buildings that are exactly like the artist impressions they sell to their clients. It was like they were on a busman's holiday, allowed to go free from the constraints of the drawing board or AutoCAD. They did these architect's wobbly lines 🤣 But they had 10+ years of drawing ahead of me. 

My father was an architect and he was a brilliant artist in secret. He once painted the most beautiful apple for me when I was young. He never promoted art or architecture as a hobby or job. I think he really hated his job - he once said to me that he wished he was a mechanical engineer because his designs would either work or not - instead of having to persuade the client that your design was the best. He run his own firm and designed a few big buildings, his one claim to fame was the Beijing Aquarium. He was so proud of his achievement and I don't think we bigged him up enough for it. So Dad I'm bigging it up for you here!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 We're not a family that celebrate successes much - like most Chinese families - money seems to be the only indicator of success.

Thought of the day - Say something nice to your family about their art, sculpture, collage, building, car paint job, crocheted dog or first effort skirt. Sometimes parents are only critical (or in my case - laugh) at your efforts. 

Because one day you may realise too late that actually they weren't half bad, and it'll too late to tell them.

Second career

 It's the start of a new era, and this blog has been sorely neglected. I might consider moving to substack but there's too many things for me to think about in the 2nd phase of life!

24 Jul 22 update

 Been baking hot in the UK, and work has been crazy busy.

But. Double under progress is still on. Doing 1 pretty easily. Next to do 2..

But golf is busy and I am lying down after two days walking the golf course with aching legs... particularly knees and ankles.

Onwards and upwards...

 Skipping at the gym, tried Kimmie's footwork but can't do the turn, more practice required.

Also can't do a double under, will try on the air mats tomorrow.

Phewie.

Monday 9th May 22 Jump!

 Came 4th in the Spring Meeting on count back. Happy my hcap has gone down but 0.5!

Thos evening I took advantage of my new work finish time. 

I did some southpaw dubs and even some double unders! I was pleasantly surprised that it was relatively easy to get the double unders except I can only do 1 arrgh!
